Coding agents add model routing as vulnerability research accelerates

GitHub has introduced Copilot Fusion to route coding work across models and is offering enterprise Copilot use through AI credits. Anthropic reports that an internal research model found and combined software vulnerabilities into exploit chains. Both developments call for closer inspection of the actions, costs, and evidence behind AI-assisted work.

Editorial read

This edition collects 2 notes across 2 topic areas and 2 sources. Start with Prepare for faster vulnerability discovery with verified patch and triage loops, Inspect model routing, policy, and AI-credit use before scaling coding agents to get the week's main practical signal before scanning the remaining links.

Edition signal

The October 30 signal is to inspect the whole AI-assisted workflow

For coding agents, check which models ran, what each call cost, and the complete resulting diff before approval. For AI-assisted security research, verify findings and patches against vendor advisories, then measure how quickly your team can triage and fix its own exposed code. Keep human review and an action trail at both boundaries.

Inspect model routing, policy, and AI-credit use before scaling coding agents

GitHub has introduced Copilot Fusion to choose execution across one or more models for coding tasks. It also says GitHub Enterprise customers can access Copilot features through usage-based AI credits without a separate Copilot subscription, currently through Sales, with self-service access planned later. GitHub's documentation says organization model and data-residency policies constrain routing, while multiple model calls can increase credit use; the announcement is not a measured cost saving for every team.

Why this matters: Pilot a representative issue and inspect the model choices, tool actions, full diff, review outcome, and credits consumed per completed task. Confirm organization policy and data location for each eligible model. Compare quality and total cost with the current workflow before widening access, and keep branch protection and human merge approval in place.
