Review Copilot's global default before unconfigured features inherit it
Source: GitHub
GitHub is gradually enforcing a global default for eligible generally available Copilot features and supported clients on Business and Enterprise plans through October 26. Features left Unconfigured take the selected enterprise or organization default; explicit feature decisions remain in place. The change also covers eligible MCP server settings. Preview features stay opt-in, and the default applies once to currently eligible unconfigured settings.
Why this matters: Check AI Controls → Copilot → Default policy for new features and export or record the current feature and MCP server settings before enforcement reaches the organization. Decide explicitly which capabilities should be enabled, disabled, or delegated to organizations, then verify the effective policy afterward. Treat an empty configuration as a real access decision, especially where tools can reach code or connected services.
